Tiffany Budd BA (Hons) is a British established fine artist, specialising in acrylic painting, coloured pencil and pastel drawing. She studied at Wimbledon School of Art and the University of Plymouth, gaining a degree in Textile Design. The course included Business Studies and Fine Art.
After a career in Textile design and then Interior Design, the demand for her artwork increased so much that she became a full time artist. Tiffany’s subjects vary due to the requirements of her clients, but her main subjects are Rainbow Animals and ‘Fractured’ paintings.
Over the past 16 years and after a visit to the Tate Gallery where The Russian Constructivists (1914-1913) were exhibiting, Tiffany was completely inspired. When she got home she got out her trusty sketchbook and started some ideas. The Russian Constructivists themselves were inspired by the Cubists but reinterpreted the style into something more tangible and recognisable. This is what she was aiming for. She named her style of work, ‘Fractured’. It looks as though the image has been shattered (like glass) and then put together again. Tiffany focuses on perspective and light enhancing those elements with different tones and depth of colour. She works in pastel, acrylic and coloured pencils. The Rainbow Animals are self-explanatory - colourful and different ways of painting all types of creatures!
Tiffany has paintings published all over the world and has worked with Marks and Spencers UK on their Wall Art collection, as well as having her paintings reproduced onto ceramic tiles by Fiesta Studios. She was commissioned by Wetherspoons to create two paintings for their new pub ’The Beehive’ at Gatwick Airport - South Terminal Arrivals. Tiffany also works with Image By Design which licenses her work throughout the world. Other clients include Derwent Pencil Company. She now sells with ThinOptics, Crescent Cardboard and ArtWall in the USA. She has won awards for her work and exhibited all over the UK, including Scotland, and St Ives. In 2005 she was a finalist in the New Artists Competition which was run by DeMontfort Fine Art. Tiffany exhibited at the Autumn Fair at the NEC, Birmingham. In 2015 she was 2nd in Art Gallery.co.uk Artist of the Year competition.
Tiffany was awarded Highly Commended for her painting ‘Harbour Boats’ in the National Acrylic Painters Association exhibition, it also sold the first day. Her boat and fish paintings have since become her best seller. Tiffany won a place in the Guildford Calendar, with her painting ‘Stylish Guildford’ in her Fractured style of painting. The painting was sold at The Surrey Artists annual exhibition. Tiffany regularly has exhibitions of her work in the UK including with the UKCPS. Exhibitions include Dorking, Leatherhead, Cranleigh, Inverness, Thames Ditton, Wales, London and Twickenham, Canada and Australia. She has work in a variety of UK hospitals using a unique Perspex print treatment with The Art Bay Gallery, Stoke on Trent. Caran D’Ache awarded Tiffany 2nd place in their worldwide art competition using just 5 of their pencils- Museum Aquarelle, and exhibited at The Mall Galleries. They also purchased the drawing, along with the other drawing Tiffany entered.
Derwent has used one of her Fractured drawings for the front of their Pastel tins - ‘St Pauls Cathedral’ - and now also has her work on the new Coloursoft collection packaging, Art Academy tin lids and the Middle East Coloursoft tin lids. Tiffany was shortlisted for the Cricket Art Prize in Australia with her Fractured painting, ‘Going for a Catch’. She was also shortlisted for HG Wells print competition for ‘Red Weed’ and is permanently exhibited at the Lightbox Gallery, Woking. Tiffany was in the final 5 for ‘Up & Coming Artist of the Year’ 2017, 2018 and 2019 by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
This year, whilst in lockdown and with the encouragement of Mr Peter Hayton, a superb miniaturist, Tiffany began to create tiny miniature drawings, just 5cm in size. She was hooked! Since then she has created and sold her drawings and joined the prestigious Hilliard Miniaturist Society.
