42. Claudia Haesen

Claudia Haesen HS ARMS

I was born in West Berlin in 1965 and have been living and working in Bonn now for more than 20 years. I love painting in my (very rare) spare time.

I knew nothing about miniature painting until I happened to visit the annual exhibition of the Hilliard Society with my husband while on holiday in Wells in 2009. Also I did not know that I might be able to paint pictures myself, let alone miniatures. However, I was so enthusiastic that I decided to give it a try. I was very surprised and proud that, in 2011, I had work accepted for the exhibition of the Hilliard Society and in 2014 I was made an associate member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers.

I paint either in watercolour or acrylic and - as I love to expand my horizons - I recently gave coloured pencils a go. I am fascinated by cats as a subject, but I also like to paint other animals, people and gardens.
