23. Eileen Bass


Eileen was born in Johannesburg South Africa, where she currently resides with her husband and family, but lived in the Western Cape for five years in the early nineties. Eileen works mainly in Watercolours and Pencil, but also paints in Oils, Acrylic and Mixed media. Eileen is a Higher Associate Member of the Watercolour Society of South Africa (HAWSSA) whom she served as Secretary of the Cape branch for two years while in Somerset West. Eileen is an Honorary Life Member of the Paint and Palette Group whom she served for many years and is also a member of the South African Society of Artists Cape Town and exhibits there annually. 

Eileen has been awarded Signature Member Status, (HS) of the Hilliard Society of Miniaturists in the UK and The Miniature Painters Sculptors and Gravers (MPSGS) of Washington DC.USA and exhibits with them annually. Eileen has been elected Associate Member (ARMS) of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers in the UK and exhibits selected miniatures, in London annually. Calligraphy and the writing of Icons are also part of her repertoire. Eileen became interested in Botanical Art and has had work selected for the Kirstenbosch Biennale and is a member of the Botanical Art Society of SA. Miniature Art has now taken over and she is an active member of the Miniature Art Society of South Africa (MASSA) and currently serves as Treasurer since 2012.The Miniature Art Society of SA has recently awarded her with Honorary Life membership for her dedication to the society. 

Eileen is the recipient of numerous awards for miniature art internationally and locally (South Africa). Her work is held in collections here and abroad – namely: America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United Kingdom.
